Sawtooth Supplement Science is built around a simple belief: livestock nutrition should be grounded in real science, high-quality ingredients, and honest standards. Our goal is to help families feed and develop animals with greater confidence, consistency, and results.
From the beginning, the mission has remained the same: raise the standard for livestock supplements and provide products families can rely on.
Howdy,
I’m Caleb Johnston, founder of Sawtooth Supplement Science. The company started with a test product funded with the last of my college savings, which eventually became Sawtooth Core. I never could have imagined we’d be where we are today!
I graduated from Boise State University spring of 2022 with my BS in Chemistry, emphasis in Biochemistry, and minor in Biology. I received my Master’s in Ruminant Nutrition from Oklahoma State University spring of 2024.
You’ll notice that “Science” is tacked onto the end of our name; that is because, from my earliest memory, I’ve always wanted to know why and how things in the world work. When developing each product, I spend hours poring over scientific literature and conduct rigorous testing for efficacy and palatability to ensure we get it right.
I live in Idaho with my wife, Reese and son, Cooper. I work as a feedlot, calf ranch, and cow calf nutritionist for PerforMix as my “day job” and help run Johnston Club Lambs with my mom, Katrina. In my free time I enjoy hiking in the Sawtooth and Lost River mountain ranges here in Idaho, with the eventual goal of hiking Denali!
Sawtooth runs thanks to a small team dedicated to serving livestock producers and their families. Each person plays a role in making sure every order and every experience reflects the standards we believe in.
From the moment Sawtooth began gaining traction, giving back became an important part of the company’s mission. At the end of the day, a business is remembered not only for the products it creates, but for the impact it leaves behind.
Sawtooth is proud to support Idaho Youth Ranch, an organization dedicated to helping children and families across Idaho. Since 1953, Idaho Youth Ranch has provided programs and services that nurture hope, healing, and resilience for young people facing difficult circumstances. Their work includes emergency shelter, residential care, youth and family therapy, job readiness training, adoption services, and more; all aimed at helping kids and families build a stronger future.
Supporting organizations like Idaho Youth Ranch is one small way Sawtooth hopes to give back to the communities that support us.
